Unit: Endangered Species Furniture Painting Project, by Andrew Feeney

Topics

Ecology, environmental science, and art

Brief description

Students will research an endangered species from a specific biome, create an informational sign, and paint a piece of art work representing the animal. Specifically, students will paint an old, unwanted piece of furniture to represent their endangered species and its habitat. They will also create an informational sign about the species that explains why the animal is endangered and why it needs to be protected. The “revived” furniture will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to charity.
