Defining Values

Students will define the term values and discuss and analyze an environmental issue of local, regional, or national interest.

The power of words: How they reflect our attitudes and values

Students will recognize the power of language to reveal individual and community attitudes about specific issues. They will be given controversial statements about an issue. Each of the sentences will have several blank spaces. Students will see how adding or removing words changes their meaning.

Science and values: Using science to shape our future

Students will jigsaw several articles that help connect values and science.

Life out of balance: Viewing the film “Koyaanisqatsi"

Students will explore how film and visuals can be used to explore the connection between human values and science.
